Developments
A small selection of developments and other projects that Tobiah has been involved in.
As a freelance artist, Tobiah has contributed to many other independent artist’s works, either as a collaborator in the creative process, or as an outside eye and mentor.
The Funeral Tree
The Funeral Tree was a heavily character driven work directed by Gabrielle Nankivell and developed along with a wealth of exceptional artists such as Luke Smiles, Daniel Jaber, Tim Ohl, Kristina Chan and Gala Moody.
The work saw two separate developments, each with their own unique outcomes.
Chance
Chance was directed by Lisa Griffiths and a number of separate developments as well as a remount on Sydney Dance Company’s Pre-Professional Year. Tobiah was involved in all stages of the project and assisted Lisa when working with PPY.
Other artists involved in the development included Adam Synott, Katherin Gurr and Tony Currie.
Snake Sessions
Tobiah was involved in the Adelaide version of Snake Sessions, a project produced by Branch Nebula. The project involves artists and practitioners from many different backgrounds including dance, breaking, skateboarding, roller blading and bmx.
It brings these individuals together to spontaneously create an interactive and accessible work that engages local skate parks and other public spaces.
What Lies Within
Developed by Lina Limosani, What Lies Within explores the nature of cults and how they gather and control their followers. The development period involved theatricality, characterisation and a strong physicality.
